The two best-known UK scholarships for Pakistanis, Chevening and the Commonwealth Master's, have both closed for 2027 entry. But several fully funded UK awards are still open right now: Gates Cambridge (deadline 8 December 2026 or 6 January 2027, depending on the course), and Oxford's Clarendon and Weidenfeld-Hoffmann scholarships, which follow Oxford's December and January course deadlines. University tuition awards such as GREAT and Glasgow's Global Leadership Scholarship come later in 2027.
Every date and amount below comes from the funder's or university's own page, checked on 22 October 2026. Rules change every round, so the official page is always the final word.
At a glance: UK scholarships for 2027 entry
Open now: Gates Cambridge
Gates Cambridge is open to citizens of any country outside the UK who apply for a PhD, MLitt or a one-year full-time postgraduate course at Cambridge. MBA, MFin and some other professional degrees are not eligible.
The Trust's scholarship page says it offers around 70 full-cost scholarships a year. The package covers the university fee, a maintenance allowance of £23,152 for 12 months at the 2026-27 rate, a single economy airfare at the start and end of the course, and inbound visa costs and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
You apply through the Cambridge graduate application. The Gates timeline for non-US applicants gives a deadline of Tuesday 8 December 2026 or Wednesday 6 January 2027, depending on your course. Check the course's funding deadline in the Cambridge course directory. Scholarship offers are due by early April 2027. Our Gates Cambridge 2027 guide goes through the statement and references step by step.
Open now: Oxford's Clarendon and Weidenfeld-Hoffmann
Clarendon. Oxford's Clarendon page says there are no restrictions on nationality, residence or subject, and more than 200 new fully funded scholarships each year. It pays course fees and a grant for living expenses. There is no separate form: you are considered automatically if you apply for your course by its December or January deadline.
Weidenfeld-Hoffmann. Oxford's Weidenfeld-Hoffmann page lists Pakistan among the eligible countries. For 2027-28 it covers 100% of course fees and a living grant of at least £21,805, plus a year-long leadership programme. It is limited to about 45 courses, including the MPP, MBA, BCL, MSc Economics for Development, MSc Energy Systems and MSc Global Health Science and Epidemiology. You tick the scholarship in the graduate application and upload a Weidenfeld-Hoffmann statement by your course's December or January deadline. Shortlisted applicants are likely to be interviewed online in April 2027, with decisions by the end of May. Applications held over to Oxford's March deadline are not considered.
For both, the deadline that matters is the course deadline on Oxford's course page, so look it up today.
Closed for 2027: Chevening, Commonwealth and Rhodes
Chevening. The Chevening Pakistan page says applications for 2027-28 are closed. Chevening's timeline for this cycle shows applications opening in August and closing in October 2026, so the next round is likely to follow a similar pattern in 2027, but Chevening has not announced dates yet. You need at least two years (2,800 hours) of work experience, and Chevening's eligibility rules include no GRE and no English test of its own. See Is GRE required for Chevening? and our Chevening essay samples.
Commonwealth Master's. The CSC closed applications at 16:00 UK time on 20 October 2026. Nominators send their nominations to the CSC by December 2026, and applicants should hear by July 2027. Its published stipend is £1,712 a month, or £2,000 in the London area. Our Chevening vs Commonwealth comparison explains both.
Rhodes. The Rhodes Pakistan page offers two scholarships a year for Pakistan, for study at Oxford. The last application window ran from 1 June to 5 August 2026.
University tuition awards: plan for 2027
These are not full scholarships. They take money off tuition, and your family still has to pay the rest of the fees and all living costs.
- GREAT Scholarships Pakistan. The British Council's Pakistan page is still for 2026-27. It gave £10,000 towards tuition for one-year taught master's at 13 universities, including Cardiff, Manchester, UCL, Bath, Glasgow, SOAS and Leicester. You apply to each university, by its own deadline. The 2027-28 list has not been published yet.
- Glasgow Global Leadership Scholarship. The University of Glasgow lists Pakistan as eligible for a £10,000 tuition fee waiver for one-year master's starting in September 2027. You need grades equal to a UK first-class degree and an offer. The page says the scholarship has not opened yet and the closing date is usually in late August.
- Nottingham Developing Solutions. The Nottingham page lists Pakistan as eligible for 50% or 100% of master's tuition. The 2026-27 deadline has passed; watch the page for 2027-28.
- Bestway Foundation at Bradford. The 2026-27 round gave five awards of full tuition, accommodation and £6,665 a year for living costs to students from Pakistan on STEM master's who face financial hardship from a crisis. It ran from 1 April to 1 May 2026. A 2027-28 round has not been announced.
