IMFSE is a two-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in fire safety engineering, coordinated by Ghent University. Students move between the full partners Ghent University (Belgium), the University of Edinburgh (UK), Lund University (Sweden) and Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (Spain), and can do the thesis at associated partners such as ETH Zurich, the University of Maryland or the University of Queensland. It suits civil, mechanical, chemical or structural engineers, architects and physicists who want a career in fire engineering, building safety or fire codes.

Applications for 2027-2028 are already open (the form opens each October). IMFSE's deadlines page says scholarship applications must be submitted before 1 February but does not print the year, so 31 January 2027 is inferred. Self-funded deadlines: before 1 April (visa needed) or 1 June. Scholarship interviews in February, results by end of March.
