The LUMS National Outreach Programme (NOP) is a need-based scholarship that brings talented students from across Pakistan to study for a bachelor's at LUMS in Lahore, fully funded if they qualify. The next online application opens on 1 November 2026 and closes on 23 February 2027, with documents due by 25 February 2027. You can apply if you are in the first year of Intermediate or A-Levels now, scored at least 80% in Matric or O-Levels, and your family has financial need.
We checked every date and rule below on LUMS NOP's own website on 20 October 2026. Their pages are the final word, so confirm there before you apply.
Who can apply
LUMS NOP's how to apply page sets three conditions:
- At least 80% marks in Matric, or the equivalent in O-Levels.
- You are in the first year of Intermediate (FSc, FA, ICS, I.Com) or A-Levels. If your first-year result has not come out, the form lets you mark it as awaited.
- Financial need. Your family's income and assets are assessed from the documents you upload.
There are no quotas by province, city, ethnicity or extra-curricular activity, and no fixed number of places. Any student in Pakistan who meets the conditions can apply. NOP students are judged on the same academic standards as other LUMS applicants; the difference is the support along the way.
Key dates for this cycle
These come from the NOP website and its how-to-apply page:
| Step | Date |
|---|---|
| NOP online application opens | 1 November 2026 |
| Application deadline | 23 February 2027 |
| Document submission deadline | 25 February 2027 |
| Summer Coaching Session (SCS) decisions | By 30 June 2027 |
| SCS at LUMS | July to August 2027 |
| LUMS admission application | January to February 2028 |
| Admission decisions | April to June 2028 |
| Classes start | September 2028 |
LUMS says the NOP deadline cannot be extended. If you miss it, LUMS says you can still apply for financial aid during or after your second year of Intermediate, through regular admission.
How NOP works, step by step
- Apply online at the NOP SCS portal between 1 November 2026 and 23 February 2027, and upload your documents by 25 February.
- Summer Coaching Session. If shortlisted, you spend two weeks at LUMS in the summer holidays. You attend classes and are assessed on tests, quizzes, participation, conduct and punctuality. Attendance at every class is required.
- Admission test and application. Students who do well at the SCS are registered for the LUMS admission test, and then apply to their chosen undergraduate programme with a financial aid request.
- Interview and need assessment. If you get a conditional offer, you complete the financial need form and attend an interview with your parents, which looks at both your finances and your personality.
- Scholarship. Students admitted on merit who show need are offered a fully funded NOP scholarship. LUMS reviews financial need every year while you study.
LUMS is clear that attending the SCS does not guarantee admission or a scholarship.
What it costs your family
- Applying: free. LUMS says there is no fee and no test to apply to NOP.
- The SCS: LUMS covers meals and on-campus housing and arranges medical care. Travel to Lahore is paid by the family, and LUMS suggests bringing about PKR 4,000 to 5,000 for pocket money and laundry (it revises this each year).
- Admission: for eligible SCS students, LUMS pays the admission application processing fee and the admission test registration fee.
- The degree: qualifying students receive full financial assistance. The NOP FAQs mention hostel accommodation, a book allowance and a living allowance.
Documents you will need
Everything is uploaded on the portal; LUMS does not accept hard copies or emailed documents. Files must be PDF, JPG or JPEG, under 2 MB each, with multi-page documents combined into one PDF. Expect to need:
- Your Matric or O-Level result, attested by a government official or your school or college.
- Details and proof of family income and assets.
- If an earner has no formal income proof (for example a farmer, shopkeeper or daily-wage worker), an affidavit on Rs 50 stamp paper listing each earner's name, CNIC, work and monthly income, attested by a notary or oath commissioner.
Give honest and complete figures. LUMS checks financial need again before awarding the scholarship and every year after. Our paperwork checklist tool helps you collect CNICs, B-Forms and income papers in one place.
Once a form is submitted it cannot be edited. To correct something, email helpdesknop@lums.edu.pk with your Tracking ID.
NOP is free: beware of anyone asking for money
NOP is free to apply for. Apply only through the official NOP portal linked from nop.lums.edu.pk, and contact NOP directly with questions: nop@lums.edu.pk, or 042-3560-8000, extension 2179, Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Nobody should pay an agent, a "consultant" or a "processing fee" to get an NOP seat or scholarship. Our guide to avoiding scholarship scams lists the warning signs.
Other options to apply for at the same time
NOP is for LUMS only, so it is wise to keep other doors open:
- IBA Karachi National Talent Hunt Program and Habib University's Equal Opportunity Program also support talented students with need.
- HEC Need-Based Scholarship and PEEF undergraduate scholarships (for Punjab domicile) are applied for after you join a university.
- If your child is choosing a stream now, our article on scholarships after FSc Pre-Engineering shows later options.
Our deadlines calendar and the LUMS NOP page on our site keep these dates together.
Your next step
If you are in first-year Intermediate or A-Levels with 80% or more in Matric, start collecting your attested Matric result and your family's income papers now, and apply on the NOP portal after it opens on 1 November 2026. Don't wait for the last week of February. Always confirm the dates on nop.lums.edu.pk before you apply.
