If you hold a BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or AI from Pakistan, the funded master's routes that fit you most directly are Erasmus Mundus joint degrees in data engineering and AI, software engineering, computer vision and cybersecurity, plus research places such as the KAUST fellowship. Broad schemes such as Chevening, HEC's overseas PhD scholarships and the Chinese Government Scholarship also accept computing graduates. The most common directions abroad are artificial intelligence and machine learning, data science and data engineering, cybersecurity, and software engineering.
This guide lists named, funded programmes whose own pages say they want computing graduates, with dates checked on 19 October 2026. Several close between December and February, so now is the time to prepare.
What computing graduates in Pakistan usually do next
Many CS and SE graduates in Pakistan go straight into software houses, IT services and outsourcing firms, banks and fintechs, telecoms, or freelance and remote work for clients abroad. Others join the public sector or teaching.
A funded master's abroad tends to make sense in three cases:
- You want to specialise in a field where a degree and research experience matter, such as machine learning, computer vision, data engineering or security.
- You are aiming for a PhD and a research or university career.
- You want international experience in industry, through programmes that include an internship or an industry thesis.
The main master's and PhD directions are:
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning, including computer vision and AI for social good.
- Data science and data engineering: big data systems, pipelines and analytics.
- Cybersecurity: network and software security, cryptography, digital forensics.
- Software engineering, especially for data-intensive and AI-based systems.

Europe: Erasmus Mundus joint master's
Erasmus Mundus master's degrees run for two years across two or more countries. EU scholarships are open to students from any country and cover tuition plus a monthly allowance; each programme's scholarship page gives the current terms.
What the programme pages say about who can apply:
- CYBERSURE names mathematics, computer science, computer engineering, IT and management of information systems as the most relevant bachelor's fields, with at least 180 ECTS or three years of full-time study. English test results must arrive by 18 January 2027, and late applications are not accepted. The site advertises more than 50 scholarships.
- DEAI wants a bachelor's of 180 ECTS with a major in computer science, and English at B2 level. It replaces the earlier BDMA programme.
- IPCVai offers Erasmus Mundus scholarships and a limited number of half-fee waivers for self-funded students. It suits computer science, engineering, maths and physics graduates.
- EDISS has announced application rounds for students starting in August 2027, with tuition fee waivers as well as EU scholarships; exact dates were not on its home page today.
Our Erasmus Mundus page lists all programmes, and the full computing list is at computer science and AI scholarships.
Middle East, UK, China and global awards
Notes on fit:
- KAUST admits students together with its fellowship, and computer science is one of its graduate programmes. You name faculty you want to work with, so read their recent papers first. The Spring 2027 PhD round closed on 27 September 2026.
- HEC's overseas PhD scheme follows a published list of priority areas. For computing it includes applications of artificial intelligence, cyber security, software engineering, distributed systems, data mining and computer graphics and visualisation. HEC announces batches irregularly, so keep checking the official page.
- The Bestway awards are for students from and living in Pakistan. Kent shortlists on academic results and then financial need; Bradford's is aimed at self-funded students facing hardship caused by conditions in Pakistan.
- Chevening suits graduates with at least two years of work experience, for example software engineers who want a one-year UK master's in AI or security. Chevening's timeline shows rounds opening in August.
How to build a strong application
- Match the programme to your record. A final-year project in vision or deep learning fits IPCVai; databases and big data fit DEAI; security coursework or CTF experience fits CYBERSURE or CyberMACS; strong software projects fit EDISS.
- Show your work. A GitHub profile, a deployed project or a short paper often says more than a list of courses. Keep it honest; never claim work that is not yours.
- Book your English test early. Several deadlines fall in January and February, and test results take time to arrive. See our IELTS, TOEFL and Duolingo guide.
- Prepare documents. Get your degree attested by HEC in good time (attestation guide) and draft your statement with our motivation letter guide.
- For a PhD, contact supervisors. Use our guide to funded PhDs and contacting professors and the sample email to a potential supervisor.
- Check the rules. CGPA cut-offs, age limits and work experience rules vary. Our eligibility checker helps you rule schemes in or out.
None of this guarantees admission or funding. These programmes are competitive and each sets its own selection rules.
Careers in Pakistan and abroad
We have not found official pay data for computing graduates in Pakistan that we can stand behind, so we do not quote salaries here. A specialist master's can lead to roles such as machine learning engineer, data engineer, security analyst or research engineer, in Pakistan, in remote work for foreign firms, or abroad. A PhD leads to research labs, industry research teams and university posts. Rules for working after study differ by country, so check them with the embassy or the university.
Your next step
Run Find my matches to see which of these programmes fit your degree and CGPA, then add the dates to your calendar from our deadlines page. CYBERSURE (4 January 2027) and KAUST (3 January 2027) close first.
Dates and rules change every year. Always confirm the deadline and eligibility on each programme's official page before you apply.
