Pharm-D graduates in Pakistan usually go into hospital and clinical pharmacy, community pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry (production, quality, regulatory affairs, marketing) or research. For study abroad, the funded routes are a master's or PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, drug development, biomedical research, vaccinology or public health. Scholarships rarely name "Pharm-D", so the trick is to find programmes that accept pharmaceutical sciences or pharmacists. Here are the ones that do, with what they pay and the next deadline, as checked on the official pages on 19 October 2026.
What Pharm-D graduates usually go on to
Common paths after a Pharm-D in Pakistan:
- Hospital and clinical pharmacy: medication review, ward pharmacy and drug information.
- Industry: manufacturing, quality control and assurance, regulatory affairs, clinical trials and medical affairs.
- Research and teaching: an MPhil or PhD in pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry or pharmacognosy, then a university or research post.
- Public health: medicines policy, supply chains, pharmacovigilance and health programmes.
Abroad, these map onto an MSc or PhD in pharmacology, pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences, drug discovery, clinical research, vaccinology, or an MPH. Lab-based PhDs are usually funded through the university or a government scheme, so you need a supervisor as well as a scholarship.

Europe: Erasmus Mundus programmes that accept pharmacy
Erasmus Mundus joint master's degrees run for two years across several countries, and the scholarship pays fees plus a monthly allowance. These name pharmaceutical sciences or pharmacists in their entry rules:
- IMIM (International Master in Innovative Medicine) lists pharmaceutical sciences among accepted degrees and is a good fit if you want drug discovery or translational research. The scholarship covers participation fees and pays €1,400 a month. The deadline is 4 January 2027. IMIM says it offers roughly 20 scholarships to about 25 top-ranked students, with a success rate below 1.5% last year, so apply to others as well.
- HYGIEIA accepts degrees related to pharmaceutical sciences, medical sciences, nutrition, biochemistry and other health and life sciences. It awards 16 scholarships per intake (full tuition plus €1,400 a month). Applications for 2027 to 2029 open on 16 November 2026 and close on 15 February 2027. An approved English test is mandatory even if your degree was taught in English.
- LIVE is a master's in vaccinology, and its eligibility page names pharmacists among the applicants it wants. You also need a grounding in subjects such as biochemistry, microbiology, physiology and immunology. The application platform is open from 18 November 2026 to 20 January 2027.
- IDOH+ (Infectious Diseases and One Health) lists pharmaceutical sciences among accepted backgrounds. Applications run in December 2026 and January 2027; tuition is €4,500 a year and Erasmus Mundus scholarships go to top candidates.
- Europubhealth+ and EMPHID suit pharmacists moving into public health. Europubhealth+ accepts any discipline and gives scholarships only in the round closing 8 January 2027. EMPHID accepts health degrees, asks for IELTS 6.5 (6.5 in writing) and lists its application period as 1 October to 31 December 2026.
A warning about BIOPHAM. The Erasmus Mundus master in Bio and Pharmaceutical Materials Science sounds like a natural fit, but its "Who can apply" page lists pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences and pharmaceutical chemistry as examples of fields that are not eligible. It wants degrees in physics, materials science, chemistry, nanoscience or bioengineering. Read entry rules carefully before you spend time on an application.

United Kingdom
Commonwealth Master's and Commonwealth PhD scholarships fund study linked to six CSC development themes, including "improving population health, health systems and capacity" and "science and technology for development". Both pay full fees, airfare and a stipend of £1,712 a month (£2,000 in London). The CSC closes at 16:00 BST on Tuesday 20 October 2026, and you also apply through a nominator (HEC for Pakistan). If that has passed, prepare for the next round.
Chevening covers any one-year UK master's, such as an MSc in pharmacology, clinical pharmacy or pharmaceutical science, and pays fees, a living allowance and travel. The latest round has closed. See Chevening vs Commonwealth to choose between them.
Nottingham Developing Solutions pays 50% or 100% of master's tuition in faculties including Science and Medicine and Health Sciences, and Pakistan is eligible. It does not say it covers living costs, and 2027 dates are not yet published.
United States
Fulbright through USEFP accepts all disciplines except clinical medicine, so pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology and public health all qualify. It covers tuition, textbooks, airfare, a living stipend and health insurance. The GRE General is required with at least 145 in each section. A PhD applicant needs 18 years of education (an MPhil or master's), and research or teaching experience is described as highly desirable. The last deadline was 1 April 2026; the next has not been announced.
Germany, Japan and Korea
- DAAD EPOS lists the MSc International Health (Charité Berlin and Heidelberg) and the MSc Global Health (Bonn) for 2027/28, a route for pharmacists interested in medicines access and health systems. Deadlines are on each course website. We could not read DAAD's main EPOS page today, so confirm eligibility there.
- MEXT Research funds research study at Japanese universities, a route into lab-based master's and PhD work. The embassy says the 2027 round closed on 26 May 2026; watch its page for the next one. Our MEXT professor email sample helps you find a supervisor.
- GKS Graduate funds master's and PhD study in Korea. The Study in Korea site has not posted 2027 graduate dates yet.
PhD in pharmacology or pharmaceutical sciences
For a funded PhD, the usual order is: find a supervisor whose work matches yours, then apply for the scholarship with their support. Use our email to a potential supervisor, the research proposal template and the guide to contacting professors for a funded PhD. HEC's overseas scholarship scheme may also fit, but we could not read HEC's page today, so check it directly for open batches and fields.
Careers and pay
We have not found official data comparing pharmacists' pay in Pakistan and abroad, so we do not quote figures. A funded master's or PhD mainly opens research, academic, regulatory and industry roles, and public health work with health departments and international agencies. Working as a licensed pharmacist abroad is a separate process run by each country's pharmacy regulator, and a scholarship does not give you that licence. Many government scholarships also expect you to return to Pakistan, so read the conditions.
Your next step
Run Find my matches or the eligibility checker to see which programmes fit your grades and experience, then pick two or three Erasmus Mundus programmes with January and February deadlines and start on your documents with the document checklist. Rules and dates change each year, so confirm everything on the official programme page before you apply.
