HEC Need Based Scholarship Last Date: Who Sets It and When
There is no single HEC last date. Each university's financial aid office sets its own, sometimes only days long. How to find yours, with 2025-26 and 2026 examples.

There is no single last date for the HEC Need-Based Scholarship. HEC's own FAQ says it does not announce the start and closing dates, and that "it is the responsibility of participating university to announce the start and end date", so the last date is whatever your university's financial aid office puts in its notice. Those windows can be very short: Bahauddin Zakariya University's 2026 notice was posted on 2 October and closed on 6 October.
We read HEC's pages and the university notices below on 28 October 2026. HEC's Need-Based Scholarship pages and your university's own notice are the final word.
Who sets the last date?
Your university. HEC's How to Apply page says you get the form from the university's Financial Aid Office (FAO), send it back to that office with your documents, and that "HEC will not accept any application form directly". The university's Institutional Scholarship Award Committee, headed by the Vice Chancellor, picks the students and sends the list to HEC, according to HEC's award process page. Each university also decides how many students it can fund from that year's budget.
Recent last dates at different universities
These official notices show how much the timing varies:
| University | Round | Window | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan | HEC Need-Based Scholarships 2026, for BS and Pharm-D students admitted on open merit | Posted 2 October 2026, last date 6 October 2026, online through the BZU student portal | BZU notice |
| NED University, Karachi | 2025-26, first to final year students | Forms accepted 21 November to 1 December 2025, after collecting a token on 19 or 20 November | NED notice |
| National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) | Last round shown on its page | Deadline 7 February 2025 | NUMS page |
So one university may open in October, another in November, and another early in the next calendar year. If you are waiting for "the HEC date", you may miss your university's.
How to find your university's last date
- Check that your university takes part. HEC says the scheme is for HEC-selected public-sector universities and degree-awarding institutions, and its FAQ says affiliated colleges are not covered.
- Watch your university's notices. Look at the student affairs or financial aid section of the website, the student portal and your department notice board from the start of each semester. BZU, for example, opened its 2026 round through its student portal.
- Ask the Financial Aid Office directly if you can't find a notice. They are the only office that can tell you the date.
- Get your documents ready before the notice comes out, because a four-day window leaves no time to collect bills and salary certificates.
Who can apply
According to HEC's eligibility criteria and FAQ:
- It is for undergraduates only, in four- or five-year programmes, in all disciplines.
- You must get admission on merit through the university's own process. Students admitted on self-finance can't apply.
- Students already enrolled can apply too, not only first-semester students.
- Students already getting financial aid or a scholarship from the university can't apply.
- There is no fixed income limit. The university committee judges each family's need.
What it pays
HEC says the scholarship covers tuition and a stipend of Rs 6 thousand a month for the complete programme, paid through the university, not directly by HEC. Its FAQ says that once you are selected you don't need to apply again every year, that funding starts from the award date, and that the scholarship can't be moved to another university.
Can I apply online?
It depends on the university. HEC itself has no online application; it says the form is on its downloads page and at the FAO. Some universities, such as BZU in 2026, take applications through their own student portal first and then ask for the printed form and documents. Others, such as NED in 2025, used paper forms and appointment tokens.
Documents to keep ready
HEC's FAQ names a salary slip, utility bills and a parent's or guardian's CNIC. University lists are longer. NED's 2025-26 notice asked for CNIC copies of the parents and dependants, salary certificates, last month's electricity, gas, telephone and water bills, any rent agreement, fee receipts of the student and siblings, medical bills if any, the latest marksheet, the university ID card and a statement of purpose. Our paperwork tool helps you track them.
It is free: avoid scams
HEC's pages mention no fee to apply. Apply only through your university's Financial Aid Office or its official portal, never through an agent or a "processing fee". Nobody outside the university committee can get you selected. Our guide to avoiding scholarship scams lists the warning signs.

Your next step
Start collecting the documents now, then check your university's financial aid notices every week from the start of the semester, and confirm the last date with the Financial Aid Office before you rely on it.
