Habib University's main scholarship for students from Pakistani boards is the Equal Opportunity Program (HU EOP), which gives up to 80% financial support for the four-year degree, and HU TOPS, which can give 100%. To qualify you need at least 70% in matric and intermediate (75% in matric for science students of a BISE or the Federal Board), and you apply through one test series. The next Karachi series closes on 20 November 2026.
We read every Habib University page linked below on 26 October 2026. Habib says it may change dates, so its own pages are the final word.
What HU EOP and HU TOPS pay for
Habib's student finance page lists two scholarships for students from national examination boards (BISE boards, the Federal Board and AKU-EB):
- HU TOPS (Talent, Opportunity, Promotion and Support): 100% financial support for the four-year programme.
- HU EOP: up to 80% financial support for the four years.
The HU EOP page says EOP covers part of the tuition, with the share depending on your merit-based scholarship, plus lab and semester registration fees and a free preparation programme before the entrance exam. To keep either award, you must stay full-time, keep good conduct and hold a CGPA of at least 3.0. If you fall below it, Habib gives one probationary semester before the scholarship is lost.
Separately, Habib gives need-based grants on top of merit awards. They don't have to be repaid, are reviewed every year, and need a CGPA of at least 2.33 each semester. Families who can't pay the rest can also arrange loans from Pakistani lenders, which Habib says follow their own rules. Our guide to interest-free student loans in Pakistan explains Qarz-e-Hasna options.
Habib University scholarship criteria: marks and subjects
You must be studying at, or have finished at, a BISE board, the Federal Board or AKU-EB, finish HSSC Part II by September 2027, and plan to join a four-year undergraduate programme at Habib. The minimum marks on the HU EOP page are:
Some programmes also ask for subjects:
- Computer Science: pre-engineering or computer science group, with maths at HSSC.
- Electrical and Computer Engineering: pre-engineering group, with maths plus physics, chemistry or computer science at HSSC, and biology or computer science at SSC.
- Social Development and Policy, Communication and Design, Comparative Humanities: no set subjects.
Meeting the marks gets you into the process; the award itself depends on your merit score. Habib says it looks at your matric and intermediate grades, the HU entrance exam (or SAT), writing and communication, the interview and activities. Entrance scholarships range from 20% to 100%.
Last dates for the Fall 2027 intake
You choose one test series. Habib says applying to more than one leads to disqualification, and anyone who has already been through admissions can't reapply. Karachi series, from the HU EOP page:
There is also an Islamabad series: apply by 4 January 2027, entrance exam on 12 to 13 January, and interviews from 2 February 2027. Habib assigns exam dates and says they can't be rescheduled. Admission decisions are rolling, so an earlier series doesn't hurt. Our deadline calendar tracks other local schemes, such as the LUMS NOP and the IBA talent hunt.
How to apply, step by step
- Register and fill in the admission form on Habib's e-application portal, upload scanned documents, and pay the application fee.
- Fill in the scholarship and financial aid application, with supporting documents, in the same portal. This is how Habib assesses need, and each admitted student gets a personal aid plan.
- Join the free HU EOP prep programme if you want help preparing.
- Sit the HU entrance exam and the interview.
- Habib gives reserved seats to the top candidates who meet the merit score.
Habib's pages don't list the exact financial aid documents, so ask Habib (+92 21 1110 42242) for its list early and start gathering your family's income papers. Our document checklist and statement of financial need sample help you prepare.
What it costs even with the scholarship
EOP doesn't cover everything. The HU EOP page says families still pay:
- the admission application fee of Rs 2.5 thousand;
- a one-time enrolment fee of Rs 70 thousand (non-refundable; Habib says it is subsidised for EOP students);
- a refundable security deposit of Rs 30 thousand;
- transport, books and stationery, and sports facility fees;
- hostel and living costs for students from outside Karachi.
For scale, Habib's 2027-28 fee schedule puts tuition at Rs 8.5 lakh a semester, plus a lab fee of Rs 2.35 lakh (science and engineering) or a studio and lab fee of Rs 1.75 lakh (arts, humanities and social sciences). At the full 80% of tuition, a family would still pay 20% of that tuition, about Rs 1.7 lakh a semester, but your actual share depends on the award you get. Ask Habib for your full fee package in writing before you accept.
Free to apply: beware of agents
The scholarship has no fee of its own: you apply for it in the same Habib portal, alongside the Rs 2.5 thousand admission fee that Habib collects itself. Apply only on habib.edu.pk or its e-application portal, and never pay an agent or a "processing fee" to anyone promising a Habib seat or scholarship. Habib decides every award itself. Our guide to avoiding scholarship scams lists the warning signs.
Your next step
Check your marks against the table, choose one series (the November series closes on 20 November 2026), and register on the e-application portal this week so you have time to fill in the financial aid form carefully. See our Habib scholarship page for a summary, and confirm every date on Habib's own website before you apply.
