GIKI (the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute in Topi, Swabi) lists 17 undergraduate scholarships and a need-based interest-free loan. Some go to the top scorers in its admission test, some to students from families under a set income in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or Sindh, and some are paid by trusts and companies. You ask for the main ones with the admission form, and for the 2026 intake GIKI's last date for financial assistance documents was 20 June 2026.

We read GIKI's Aid and Scholarships page, fees page and admissions page on 30 October 2026. The scholarship page says its list is for students admitted in 2025-26, and the fees are for 2025-26 freshmen, so the 2027 figures may differ. GIKI's pages are the final word.

When to apply

GIKI had not published its 2027 admission dates when we checked. Its 2026 schedule shows the pattern a family can plan around:

Step (2026 intake) Date
Online applications open 15 March 2026
Applications close 15 June 2026
Last date for financial assistance documents 20 June 2026
Admission test 6 to 10 July 2026
Merit list 21 July 2026
Classes begin 31 August 2026

GIKI's admission overview says scholarship and financial assistance applications can only be submitted online. GIKI tells applicants about any financial assistance along with the admission offer. If a meritorious applicant's request is turned down, the student can still join by paying the full fee.

Who can get in

GIKI's eligibility page (for admissions 2026) asks engineering and computing applicants for at least 60% each in Mathematics, Physics and overall in FSc Pre-Engineering, ICS, or Pre-Medical with additional Mathematics. Management Sciences asks for 60% overall from any intermediate group. The admission test, in intermediate Physics and Mathematics, carries 85% of the merit, and matric (or O level) carries 15%. The test also matters for money: the GIK merit scholarships go to the top scorers. Our eligibility checker helps you see where you stand for other schemes too.

What a year at GIKI costs

GIKI's fees page for 2025-26 freshmen gives these charges, and says all fees are revised every year:

Charge (2025-26) Engineering and Computing Management Sciences
Tuition and accommodation, per semester Rs 4.7 lakh Rs 4.1 lakh
Tuition and accommodation, per year Rs 9.4 lakh Rs 8.25 lakh
Admission fee (once, non-refundable) Rs 75 thousand Rs 75 thousand
Security deposit (refundable) Rs 40 thousand Rs 40 thousand
Mess security advance Rs 15 thousand Rs 15 thousand

The fee includes the hostel room. GIKI adds a 5% administrative charge if you pay semester by semester rather than for the whole year at once, and a semester's fee can't be paid in instalments. By our own sum, an engineering freshman paying by semester pays about Rs 6.2 lakh before the first semester (fee, admission fee, deposits and the 5% charge). Food in the mess is extra. That is why the scholarships matter.

GIKI's scholarships, one by one

This is GIKI's list for students admitted in 2025-26. "Full" and "partial" are GIKI's own words. Income limits are yearly family income.

Lucky Cement Pakistani, with preference for KP domicile 1 Full After admission
ICI Top female student 1 Full After admission
PEL Merit-cum-need, electrical engineering faculty 1 Full After admission

Two things to know. First, GIKI's page gives the CM KP scholarship two different sets of details (in one place 4 seats, full funding and a Rs 12 lakh limit; in another 20 seats, tuition only and the pay or bill limits above), so ask the financial aid office which applies to your year. Second, GIKI says every award continues only with satisfactory academic results, and also depends on the donor's policy.

Several of these are provincial or national schemes that GIKI takes part in. Read about them on our pages for the PEEF undergraduate scholarship, the CM Punjab Honhaar scholarship, the KP CMEEF and the Ihsan Trust interest-free loan.

The interest-free loan

GIKI's own financial assistance is given as an interest-free loan covering full or partial tuition. The aid page says about 40 to 50 students get it each year, and that it is repaid in six-monthly instalments starting one year after graduation. To ask for it, you download the financial assistance form from GIKI's website and send it with the admission form. GIKI charges Rs 1 thousand as a financial assistance processing fee, on top of its Rs 3.5 thousand admission processing fee. Our article on interest-free student loans in Pakistan explains how such loans compare with grants.

Free to apply, and no agents

Apart from GIKI's own processing fees above, paid to GIKI with the admission form, there is no charge for any of these scholarships. Apply only through GIKI's website and its Office of Student Affairs and Financial Aid (phone (0938) 281026, extensions 2464, 2301, 2342 and 2349, as GIKI's page lists them), or through the provincial scheme's own portal when GIKI points you there. Nobody can "arrange" a GIKI scholarship for money, so never pay an agent or a "processing fee" to anyone else. Our scholarship scams guide shows the warning signs.

Your next step

If your child is in FSc or ICS now, plan for the test, because the GIK merit awards go to the top scorers. Ask GIKI's financial aid office which income papers it needs, and gather them before March, so the financial assistance form goes in with the admission form. Look at scholarships after FSc Pre-Engineering for other options, and keep an eye on our deadlines page. Check GIKI's admissions page for the 2027 dates and fees as soon as they are published, because they will replace the 2026 figures here.
