IBA Karachi's need-based financial aid pays between 25% and 90% of tuition for students whose families cannot afford the fee, and you can ask for it only after you have been offered admission. For students joining in Fall 2027, IBA's financial assistance office lists Round 1 dates of 13 January, 25 January and 1 March 2027, and the first of those is the day IBA announces Round 1 final admission results.

IBA's own figures show how common aid is there: its financial assistance office says about 43% of IBA students received financial assistance in 2025-26, and that IBA granted Rs 1,057 million (about Rs 105.7 crore) over that period. We read every page below on 28 October 2026. IBA can change its rules and dates at any time, so its financial assistance site is the final word.

What IBA offers

IBA's financial assistance office runs three kinds of help.

Option What it is Who it is for
Need-based scholarship "Bridge financing" of 25% to 90% of tuition, paid until IBA matches you with an outside donor Full-time morning students in undergraduate and graduate programmes (not the EMBA or MSJ)
Qarz-e-Hasna An interest-free loan for tuition, through outside donors such as Ihsan Trust Full-time or part-time, morning or evening students facing hardship
Fee instalment plan The current semester's fee split into two or three instalments, all within the same semester Full-time morning students with a short-term cash problem

The money for the need-based scholarship comes from Zakat and from public and private donors. "Bridge financing" means IBA pays your share first, then places you with a donor scholarship. IBA says you must keep applying for the donor scholarships it recommends, and that contacting a donor directly can lead to disciplinary action.

What the percentage means in rupees

IBA charges by credit hour. Its fee structure for Fall 2026 admissions gives:

  • Undergraduate tuition: Rs 31,500 a credit hour.
  • MBA (morning) tuition: Rs 39,400 a credit hour.
  • One-time admission charges: Rs 1.25 lakh.
  • Hostel: about Rs 1.26 lakh to Rs 1.47 lakh a semester, depending on the room.

So for a semester of, say, 15 credit hours, undergraduate tuition is about Rs 4.7 lakh. At 25% aid the family's tuition falls by about Rs 1.2 lakh; at 90% it falls by about Rs 4.3 lakh. The aid is on tuition, so plan separately for the admission charges, the hostel and living costs. Fall 2027 fees may be different, so check the new fee page when IBA publishes it.

Who qualifies

IBA publishes no fixed income limit. Its pages say:

  • You must face financial constraints and be unable to pay through fee instalments or Qarz-e-Hasna.
  • A committee assesses need with its own criteria, reviewed every year, and compares applicants with each other. It may interview you, call your parents, check documents and visit your home.
  • You need a CGPA of at least 2.5 to keep the aid. If it falls below 2.5 after the Fall results, the aid stops for Spring.
  • Undergraduate aid lasts up to eight consecutive semesters from first admission. Repeated, withdrawn and deficiency courses aren't covered.
  • Graduate students must take a full course load and not freeze a semester.
  • You must reapply every year. IBA's FAQ says there is no waiting list, and that students who were declined or got a lower percentage can reapply on the announced dates.

Dates for Fall 2027

IBA's admissions schedule and its financial assistance office's important dates page (headed "Important Dates 2027-28") give these Round 1 dates:

Round 1 BBA, BS Accounting and Finance, BS Business Analytics MBA
Admission forms close 9 December 2026 9 December 2026
Aptitude test 20 December 2026 20 December 2026
Final admission result 12 January 2027 13 January 2027
Financial assistance dates listed 13 January, 25 January and 1 March 2027 13 January, 25 January and 1 March 2027

The financial assistance page lists the same three Round 1 dates for BS Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics and Social Sciences too. It also gives dates for Round 2 (in April and May 2027) and Round 3 (in July and August 2027). The page doesn't label what each of the three dates means, so before you plan around them, confirm with the office (financial-aid@iba.edu.pk) which one is the last date to apply. IBA's terms say that missing the deadline for the need-based form means losing the aid.

Documents parents should start collecting now

IBA's document checklist is long, and some items take weeks to get, so start before the admission result:

  • CNIC copies of the applicant, parents or guardian, siblings and everyone living in the house, and the domicile of the father or guardian and the applicant.
  • FBR income tax returns (and/or wealth statements) of all earning family members for the past year. IBA says these are mandatory, except for residents of Gilgit-Baltistan.
  • Salary slips for the last three months, a pension book or slip, or for business owners three photos of the business.
  • Bank statements of every account of every earning member, and the applicant, for the past year.
  • Six months of electricity, gas, telephone and water bills, plus any rent agreement, loan papers, credit card bills and medical bills.
  • Property papers, savings certificates, shares and other investments.
  • Three photos of the inside and three of the outside of the house.
  • Mark sheets from Matric or O Levels onwards, and fee bills and scholarship papers of the applicant and siblings.
  • A written and video statement of purpose explaining the family's situation, and a self-declaration printed on Rs 50 stamp paper.

Be accurate. IBA's terms say that if information turns out to be false, the award is cancelled, the student must repay all the aid or pay a penalty equal to it, and the admission can be cancelled. Our paperwork tool helps you track what you have collected.

Free to apply: avoid scams

IBA's financial assistance pages mention no fee for the aid application (the admission application itself has its own fee). Apply only through the "Apply Now" link on IBA's own financial assistance site, and contact only the office in Room 16, NBP Building, IBA Main Campus, or financial-aid@iba.edu.pk. Never pay an agent, a "consultant" or anyone asking for a "processing fee" to get an IBA scholarship. Our guide to avoiding scholarship scams lists the warning signs.

Other routes to IBA

Your next step

If your child is applying to IBA this year, submit the admission form before 9 December 2026, then start gathering the tax returns and bank statements now, so the aid application is ready when the Round 1 results come out in January. Add the dates to our deadlines calendar, and confirm each one on IBA's financial assistance site before you rely on it.
